These data-sheets are in Adobe Acrobat format. You will need an Acrobat viewer to read and print these data sheets: numerous sources of this are available (see links below).

Separate colour (jpg) pictures are also available.

ZIPed versions are also available below...these are typically one half to one third of the size of the .pdf files, and decompress using PKWARE utilities to create a .pdf file in your directory.

In the data-sheets we have included photo's, and these are included in the .pdf files downloaded via the links below. They are in a form which can be printed from a usual 300dpi laser or ink-jet printer, and give a picture which looks like a newspaper photo using halftone printing with a 60 DPI screen. They do not look as good as the JPEG colour photos but is the best a laser printer can do.

We have also prepared a single compressed file containing all our current data-sheets WITHOUT any pictures. This file consists of just the text part of the data sheets in separate printable .pdf files which are generated when you unzip this single file. This file is: JEDdatas.zip (362KB). You can then download a full data-sheet of particular interest, or download the coloured .jpg file.

JED productsA selection of JED products.

CPU cards and Single Board Computers:

1. JED PC540 single board PC/104 format computer: an embeddable XT using an Intel 80C188EB, with 2SIO and 40 I/O lines on a drink coaster! Easy programming in C using Hi-TECH's $A179 ($A196.90 inc GST) Pacific C compiler on your PC. (Special version with LOCATE utility and with embedded system remote debug, available from JED.) PC540.pdf (194KB) or PC540.ZIP (115KB), or a picture: PC540.jpg (28KB). The PC540 starts at $A350 ($A385 inc GST).

This board has support for Hi-Tech's low-cost Pacific C compiler.  A hypertext manual for the 80C188EB chip is also available. (See links section below).

2. JED PC541 single board PC/104 format computer using a NEC V51: an exact XT compatible with FLASH Disk, FDD, IDD hard disk, 2 SIO, RS485, LPT and 20 I/O to JBUS, all on a drink coaster: PC541.pdf (180KB) or PC541.ZIP (95KB), or a picture: PC541.jpg (34KB). The PC541 starts at $A450 ($A495 inc GST).

3. JED PC543: a new single board computer using the AMD ELAN SC300 ... effectively a 386, 33 Mhz computer with up to 4 Mb. DRAM and 8 Mb. FLASH. This PC/104 is an ideal embedded controller where multiple serial ports are needed: this board features FIVE serial ports! As well, it has a full-featured bi-directional parallel port, a RTC, a JBUS port with 20 I/O lines from a 5202 or 5204 Xilinx gate array (add your own I/O logic). For development or code update purposes, there is a floppy disk interface on board connected to the LPT port connector...just plug in a drive and download.

There is also an SPI interface to MMC of NexFlash plug-in serial FLASH cards...ideal for data logging data storage.

This card has a standard 16-bit PC/104 expansion connector, so it can work with PC/104 flat-panel VGA display adapters, or Ethernet network cards. JED already has an ISA VGA card...we will probably do a PC/104 version early 1998. If the complexity and resolution of a full VGA card is not needed, the SC300 ELAN chip can directly drive several smaller LCD displays: CGA or 1/4 VGA mono sizes are covered.

This is a low power fully PC compatible with all you need for communications intensive applications. Example application: On a truck with a GPS satellite location system into one port, a GSM, radio modem or differential GPS receiver into another, a remote LCD display on the dashboard via a third, a data acquisition system gathering truck engine data into another, and a serial DataSafe connected to a fifth.

If you are interested in using this new board .... email Ed Schoell at eschoel@jedmicro.com.au with your comments.

A full data sheet is now on our site: Download PC543.pdf (276kb) or PC543.zip (161kb) for a four-page data-sheet. A photo is now available:  PC543.jpg.

(To go with the PC/104 format boards is a low-cost PC/104 to ISA adapter, the PC530. Call for details.)

4. JED STD801, a single board computer which has had a 14-year history at JED. It is a very low power board using the National Semiconductor NSC800, a CMOS CPU with a Z80 instruction set. On the STD-format board (4.5" by 6.5") we added a dual UART (RS232 & RS485), a real-time-clock, an 8-channel 10-bit ADC system (0-5 volt) and 30 I/O lines and three counter-timers. It only draws 0.5 watt from a 5-volt supply. Many thousands are in use in Australia and around the world in diverse applications, from earthquake monitoring to penguin weighing, from mass-spectrometers to goat de-worming, from crop irrigation to security systems, and from trout smoking to medical laser controllers. There is an STD801 every 400 metres along Melbourne's freeways monitoring traffic speed and density for Vic Roads for the travel time displays...shown in the photo with a solar power array and a UHF radio link.

The STD-801 board runs BASIC, works well with Hi-TECH's Z80 C cross-compiler from a PC, and comes with a BIOS for support of all on-board peripherals. Here is the data sheet: STD801.pdf (91KB) or STD801.ZIP (67KB), and the picture: STD801.jpg (43KB). A fully configured STD-801 sells for $A550 ($A 605 inc GST) one off.

(JED makes a variety of STD-bus cards: memory to 256KB RAM and PROM (STD816), 64-bit input and output (STD821/2/3/4), OPTO-22 24-channel rack interfaces (STD820), 8-channel RS232/RS485 communications boards (STD890), and the STD683 board, a CPU board using the Motorola 68340 CPU. Call JED for specifications.)

5. JED AT303/AT304, an ISA-bus all-in-one PC compatible. This uses a 386SX or a 486SLC CPU, can hold 16 MB or RAM, and includes FLASH disk, as well as floppy and IDE interfaces. It has a JBUS interface to the JBLOCK family (see below) for analog and digital I/O. It comes complete with a parallel printer port, keyboard and mouse ports. Here is the data-sheet: JEDPC.pdf (567KB) or JEDPC.ZIP (421KB), and the picture: JEDPC.jpg (60KB). The AT303 is priced from $A650 ($A715 inc GST).

(The AT303 works well with the AT350 video card (see display driver pages, link below) designed to drive flat panels (EL as well as all LCD types). This combination of boards is on board the Australian submarine project. JED also has the AT004, a four-slot ISA bus board to interconnect four PC-style boards.)
